A New Life With My Savior

Before I received eternal life, i felt emptiness in me which I couldn't explain. I engaged myself to smoking of at least 2 packs of cigarettes a day and at least 4 times a week of night outs with my colleagues and students in the bars.

While I was enjoying my life doing such unhealthy habits, I remember asking myself, "Is this the life that i really wanted?" "Is there other life better than this?" I felt the emptiness. I felt something is missing.

When I left the Philippines to work abroad, my room mate shared to me on how to receive eternal life. Everyday, she will post a Bible verse in our room and will boldly share to me its meaning. I found it so bizarre and odd. But God used her to share to me about believing in Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. I grew up in a Catholic school and I thought I knew everything about the Bible. But when I attended my room mate's Bible study group, I suddenly felt the urgency to refrain from smoking. I started praying to God to remove that habit from me which I was struggling to avoid and remove for 6 years but will always end up puffing more and more. I was so shocked that after that prayer, my desire to smoke was gone. I was not even looking for it or even desiring to have even a puff. That was the start when i felt that God was really at work in me.

Now that I'm sure that i have eternal life, my life started to have meaning. There is real joy in me and that emptiness had gone. My bad habits of smoking and drinking were totally gone.

Every time i would encounter problems and trials, the joy of the Lord is still in me. I know that amidst of those situations, I have a faithful and loving God that will carry me all the way. I realized how wonderful my life is because I know my purpose and where I am going. Whenever I encounter people who are struggling to withdraw from smoking and alcoholism, I talked to them and shared them how the Lord helped me to totally removed those vices from me.

This precious gift that God has given me, the gift of eternal life has allow me to live my days in God's leading and I am confident that God has called me to share the truth about His salvation.
