A long journey to Jesus
Accepting Jesus after a lifetime journey.
Before receiving Jesus, I was afraid of what would happen after I died.
I grew up in a non-Christian family but my parents sent me to a Christian school at a young age. My parents thought I would get a better education at that school but they did not realize they were also setting me on a path to Jesus. All of my life I wondered which religion was correct. I always felt drawn to Jesus but my parents told me that Christianity was not true. I was very confused but, I felt like all of my life Jesus was there at every turn waiting for me.
My wife is a Christian and I had occasionally attended church with her but not often. My father-in-law has probably mentioned Jesus in nearly every conversation I have ever had with him. This used to bother me but I also kept thinking about his words. A couple of years ago, my 5 year old daughter started asking me why I did not go to church with her. She told me that Jesus loved me and that it was not too late, I could start going to church with them and accept Jesus and "get dunked" at church. I started going to church everyweek with my family and really listening to the messages. I felt the love of Jesus every time I came to Crossroads and I realized that it was true that I could receive His grace and forgiveness if I gave my life to Him.
Now I know that after I die, I will not be separated from my family because we will be together in heaven. I feel peace after receiving Jesus because I know that he is with me.
Before Jesus, I had a lot of stress and anxiety in my life. Now, instead of trying to do everything on my own, I stop and ask Jesus for help and direction. He is there for me and helps me with my problems but also gives me peace about things that are out of my control.
After accepting Jesus, I know that I will be with him when I die and I also know that he is here with me no matter what I face in this life.
