A Journey of Faith, Failure, and Hope
My story is one of struggle, failure, and frustration, but ultimately, it is a story of hope, redemption, and purpose. After years of chasing worldly success, battling disappointment, and feeling lost, I found true peace and direction when I surrendered my life to Christ. Despite facing hardships and injustice, receiving eternal life has given me the strength to persevere and the assurance that God has a greater plan for me. Through His grace, I now live with purpose, knowing that my future is secure in Him.
Before I received Christ, my life was a mixture of ambition, frustration, and confusion.
Before I received Christ, my life was a mixture of ambition, frustration, and confusion. I was caught in a cycle of chasing after dreams that never seemed to materialize, and every step I took seemed to lead me deeper into disappointment. Growing up, I always envisioned myself as someone who would make it big in life. My passion for drama and film pushed me to pursue a career in the arts, dreaming of becoming a star and living a life of success. But as life would have it, my path was filled with obstacles that I never anticipated. At a young age, I fell seriously ill for two years, forcing me to drop out of school. This illness not only affected my education but also my sense of direction. During this time, I found myself making choices that I later regretted. One of those choices was when I got my girlfriend pregnant. According to the cultural norms in my community, when a man gets a woman pregnant, it’s almost automatic that marriage follows. So, at a time when I was still grappling with my own challenges, I found myself married. I loved my wife dearly, but I wasn’t ready for the responsibility that came with marriage. I watched as she faded physically, growing thinner by the day, as the weight of our struggles bore down on her. We didn’t have much, and the life I had promised her seemed to slip further away. For seven long years, I left her to live with my parents in Kasese, hoping that one day I could finally provide a better life for her. Every year, I promised her that things would improve, but they never did. In Kampala, I tried everything to make a name for myself. I went back to school, pursuing a degree in drama and film, hoping that this would finally be my ticket out of the poverty and struggle we were facing. I invested all my time, money, and energy into staging a theatrical production that I believed would be my big break. But when opening night came, only five people showed up. The following nights were even worse. The show that was supposed to change everything became another crushing disappointment. I was broken. I felt like a complete failure—not just to myself but to my wife, who had stood by me despite all my empty promises. I started contemplating letting her go, believing that maybe she would have a better life without me. The weight of my failures was overwhelming. I didn’t know what to do, where to turn, or how to move forward. During all these years, I had kept God at arm's length. I was aware of His existence, but I felt like religion would limit me, like it would hold me back from my dreams. I didn’t realize at the time that it was my distance from God that was preventing me from finding true peace and direction. I thought my plans would succeed if I just worked hard enough, but every effort seemed to crumble right in front of me. I was lost, confused, and exhausted from trying to make something out of my life. At that moment, I felt defeated, not knowing that God had a plan for me beyond my dreams of fame and success. I had reached a point where I was ready to give up everything, not realizing that my true calling and purpose were just around the corner.
I received eternal life on February 16, 2020, when I surrendered my life to Christ. It happened after a period of deep frustration and pain. I had just faced another failure in my life after a theatrical production I had invested in fell apart. I was at my lowest point, overwhelmed by disappointment and struggling with the idea of letting my wife go, feeling like I was failing her and myself. In my desperation, I reached out to a pastor who was a friend of mine for counseling. When we met, he told me that the Lord had shown him that I had a calling for evangelism, a purpose I had been running from for years. He shared with me that God had a greater plan for my life, and that my struggles were a result of trying to live outside His will. The pastor encouraged me to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior, explaining that with Him, I would find peace, purpose, and the strength to overcome the challenges I faced. I realized then that I had been running from the very thing that could bring me true fulfillment. The following day on Sunday, during the church service, I made the decision to receive Christ into my life. I prayed for forgiveness, surrendered my fears and failures, and committed my life to following Him. From that day forward, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. I knew that I was no longer alone, and that God was guiding me on a new path—one that was filled with purpose and hope. Receiving Christ gave me the strength to embrace my calling, trust in God’s timing, and believe that no matter the struggles, He was with me every step of the way. Though I am still struggling, I know that my story is not over. God is still writing it, and I have faith that the best is yet to come.
Receiving eternal life has given me true peace and a sense of purpose, replacing the confusion and frustration that once filled my life.
After receiving eternal life, one of the most powerful moments where I truly experienced God's peace and purpose was when I faced another difficult situation shortly after giving my life to Christ. I had just lost my job due to lies and false accusations from people I trusted in a Christian organization. Before receiving Christ, this would have crushed me completely, leaving me hopeless and filled with anger. But this time, something was different. Instead of letting the bitterness consume me, I leaned into my faith. I remembered that God knew the truth, and no matter how much I was struggling, He had a plan for me. I prayed for strength and wisdom to handle the situation with grace. Despite the loss, I felt a deep peace within me—something I had never experienced before. Instead of being overwhelmed by the injustice, I found myself more focused on how God was leading me through it. Through this experience, I understood that my purpose wasn't dependent on my job or the opinions of others, but on my relationship with Christ. This realization gave me the strength to persevere and trust that God was guiding me toward something greater, and that peace sustained me through one of the hardest moments of my life.
I know for sure that I have eternal life, and when my time on this earth ends, I will be with God in heaven. Christ has given me peace, purpose, and the assurance that my future is secure in Him. No matter what challenges I face, I have confidence that my salvation is certain and my place in eternity is guaranteed.
