A bank robbery and a phone call
The same peace that God gave me then is available every day. I am thankful for the calm assurance God gives to those who know Him.
I'm glad I have eternal life because of the deep peace God gave me about our daughter when she received a gunshot wound on the job as a bank teller. I had complete assurance that if she did not survive I would see her again in heaven with God.
I was at my job one afternoon and a secretary in the office came to me with the message that our daughter is on the phone and she is crying, Knowing she worked at a local bank, I knew this wasn't a good sign. On the way to my office, another man with my same first name had taken the call by mistake. I heard him say "she got shot, oh no." and he canceled the call. I rushed to the parking lot, got in my car and took off to the bank. Of course, being very concerned about my girl, my heart began to be full of fear. What if she doesn't make it? I may not see her alive when I get to the bank. A helpless and hopeless feeling began to overcome me. I asked God to protect her and rescue our girl from whatever she was enduring. In spite of those fears the Lord gave me peace that if she did not make it, I would see her again in heaven because I knew she would go there and that my wife and I would meet her there. She did have life threatening injuries, but recovered and is now married and living a blessed life. I am grateful for the peace given to my worried heart.
I have that peace today and I know I have eternal life and will be with God I heaven when I die.
