"Searching for a purpose"

Margie Edwards
November 01, 2009

Before I had a relationship with Jesus I was looking for something to have meaning and purpose in my life. I was not raised in a Christian home. I grew up in a home that showed very little love. Having moved across the street from a church as a teenager, I did attend that church for a short while and later was baptized but didn't have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Later I moved to lived with my grandparents and although they attended church, I never went with them. I still had that unloved feeling and was still searching for something. What I didn't know at that time. During that time, I did not live like a Christian should although if people would ask me if I was a Christian, I would say yes.

When my husband and I moved to Arkansas, we moved down the street from a wonderful Christian family that started sharing with me how I could find that peace that I had been searching for. They told me about Jesus and how he loves us. They invited me to attend church with them. I could see the happiness and joy in their faces and I knew that I wanted what they had.

After attending Marshall Rd. Baptist Church, I knew without a doubt that God had brought us to Arkansas for one purpose and that was to become a child of His.

A few months later as the Holy Spirit began to work in my heart, I ask Him to come into my heart, forgive me for my sins, and give me eternal life.

I know now that what I was searching for all those years was Jesus Christ. I know that if I were to die right now, I know for certain that I have eteranl life and I will spend eternity in Heaven with God.
