My Story
I'm glad I have eternal life because I can rest assured in the Sovereignty of God.
I grew up in a Christian family with my parents heavily involved in our local church. In my teen years it was tough for me when my friends went to the beach and I had to stay at home to go to church. I guess I started getting angry about God because he was 'interfering' in my life.
Joining the Army after high school, I rarely went to church but preferred to spend time with friends and studying.
I married my beautiful wife Jenny and later we were blessed with 2 wonderful kids. Jenny was keen to attend church and soon we started going to church when we could. However things really changed when my teenage son got really excited about Jesus after a youth camp and he encouraged our family to return to an active Christian life. We started going to church each week and in time began to look forward to church. We were disappointed if we missed church!
As I sat in church each week I remember reading a banner "Our mission - To bring people into a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ through the Gospel". I read that time and time again. Why? Because God was letting me know that I knew about Him but I didn't really know Him. I didn't really have a relationship with God.
Finally, at a men's conference, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes and Jesus welcomed me back.
I now have an inner peace that did not exist before, I read my Bible and I pray regularly. Jesus is involved in my daily life, talks with me in prayer and he helps me jump my hurdles.
My walk is summed up in John 10:28 "My Father who has given them to me is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand".
God always had a plan for me (even if I didn't realise it!) but now, despite my sins, I know I am a part of His eternal Kingdom.
