God's Pursuit of Me

Before I had a relationship with Jesus I was always trying to prove myself so that others would like me and approve of me.

Because of this desire for love and acceptance I would compromise my actions and words depending upon who I was with. I had many different types of friends and depending upon who I was with, I would say or do what would be more favorable for them liking me and accepting me. Of course at the time I didn't consciously understand this constant need of love and acceptance of others. As I matured and became a mother conflicts in my conscience became apparent.

My discovery that Jesus loves me unconditionally has been very gradual. Although looking back Jesus was there all the time it wasn't until three years ago that I really was open to Him revealing this unconditional love.

Over the last three years my life has dramatically changed. I have lost some of the most important people in my life through death, and lived through incredible betrayals of family and friends but my value and worth as a child of God has soared. So much so that I now am more focused on the needs of others than my needs. My value is secure in Christ and therefore I am free to love others like He would want me to, without expecting anything in return.

Instead of my actions and words trying to appease people to gain their love for me. My words and actions are now focused on bringing glory to God so that others will come to know that they are loved unconditionally by God just as I am. I now look for ways for me to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.

Not only has my relationship with Jesus changed my life here on earth, this full life that Jesus offers lasts forever. If I were to die right now, I know for certain that I'd be with God in heaven.
