Achieving peace and purpose

It really became apparent to me when I was in my early 20's. My mom, who was also my best friend, came down with ovarian cancer, and she died within a year. Afterward, I became severely depressed and lost a lot of weight. I got to a point that I even prayed to God to let me die; and in a way, I did.
I died to that old life when someone shared with me how I could have eternal life, and I grabbed on to it!
Now that I have eternal life I have a hope, joy, and a peace inside me; and I have a purpose to my life.
Many things have happened to me since that time to show me just how much I have changed. In fact, a couple years ago I developed a heart arrhythmia and had to be hospitalized for it. Even though I still had three children at home, I did not lose that hope and peace I had inside me. There was an older lady there at the hospital beside me having significant health issues, and I was able to help and comfort her during my time there.
This peace and purpose to my life comes from knowing that I have eternal life and being sure that when I die, I will go to be with God in Heaven.
