I had been going to church regularly for many years from when I was young and I had become quite comfortable with what I believed about God, I even felt that I had a pretty good relationship with God. But when I was in Year 12 at school, I started wondering if I had got it right. I had doubts about where I stood with God. I could't put my finger on it, but I had this feeling that there was just something that I was missing.
It was shortly after leaving school that someone shared with me some great news about God, and it was then that I received eternal life.
At that moment it was like God had switched on a flood light for me and I saw that there had in fact been something that I was missing out on for so many years. I could now understand clearly that God was giving me this deep certainty that I have a real relationship with Him.
I've come to know what it means to have real relationships with people, not just superficial aquaintences. Having eternal life has given me confidence in where life might lead me, I know there is a real purpose to my life.
I have confidence in my future, I know God has it under His control. But not just my future in this life but beyond, because the really great thing is I know that when I come to the end of this life and I die, I will be going to heaven.
