What's My Story

I've grown up in a family that is very money - orientated and I always thought that my purpose in life was to look after my parents the way they looked after me: by providing for them financially, kind of like a reimbursement for all the time and effort they put into raising me.

I gained happiness and security from being approved of, and my parent's approval was a very hard thing to earn. I figured that I'd try my best to find a good job and provide well for them in the future.

Over time, I realised that the expectations that my parents had of me were way too high for my liking. There was always something else that I had to do to prove myself to them.

Before I received eternal life I was afraid of death. Back in primary school, Grade 3 or 4, I had a kidney operation that would change my life. I was young at the time, and didn't think twice about it. As I grew older, I started to understand how it would affect me in the long term.

Then, I received eternal life.

After I received eternal life, God answered the questions that I had. Providing financially for my parents was a good thing, but I realised that I could give them so much more. The world really doesn't revolve around money.

Now that I have eternal life I no longer fear death. My condition I realised, was very small in comparison to the needs of people in other parts of the world. Instead of thinking of myself, I started thinking of others more, and that I find is one of the many great ways God has changed me and my way of thinking. People love it when you think about and genuinely care about them first, and I hope to be able to share God's great gift to me by doing this to not only the people that I know, but to those I'm yet to know.

I'm glad that I have eternal life because I am 100% certain that I'm going to heaven when I die.
