In Search of Purpose

Before I had a relationship with Jesus I often wondered what my purpose in life was.

I worked many hours every week as a store manager. I commuted 40 minutes each way. I went to work at 6am and got home between 6 and 7 pm. I did this 6 days per week. I would come home and have dinner, mow the grass, and watch a little tv then go to bed; only to start over again the next day. For a long time I was feeling that it was all vanity. I did the same thing day after day after day. I was in a rut. I would drive home, wondering if there was more to life; if there was a greater purpose for me.

Then I discovered that there is more to life when I came into a relationship with Jesus.

From that time on I have never thought that life was vanity; there is a greater purpose for my life.

I remember becoming eager to go to work; eager to come home and see my family; grateful for the chores I had to do; happy to spend time with others; and overall, finding life to be a great joy and a blessing. My situation hadn't really changed; but my outlook on life had changed; I had changed.

The best thing about this full and purposeful life that Jesus offers is that it lasts forever. I know, that even when I die, my life will be even fuller with God in heaven forever.
